CITOM reroutes traffic today

CEBU, Philippines - A portion of Osmeña Boulevard from Basilica del Sto. Niño to Fuente Osmeña will be closed today starting 2 p.m. to give way to the parade marking the launching of Sinulog 2013.

The City Traffic Operations Management announced that temporary rerouting will be implemented on the affected streets until further notice.

The Sinulog 2013 launching parade will start at 3 p.m. from the Basilica to Fuente Rotunda where it will take a U-turn to proceed to the Cebu City Sports Center.

The opening and launching program will be at the Fuente Rotunda at 7 p.m.

CITOM and the Traffic Patrol Group advised that the following routes shall be taken by Public Utility Jeepneys plying the affected road:

PUJs coming from Lahug to Osmeña Boulevard via Capitol must turn right to B. Rodriguez St., left turn to V. Rama Ave., proceed to V. Rama Extension then to their destination.

 From Carbon area, they must turn left to F. Gonzales St., turn left to Magallanes St., turn right to Borromeo St., left to Sanciangko St., right to Panganiban St., left to N. Bacalso Ave. then right to V. Rama Avenue to their point of origin.

Passenger vehicles from Guadalupe including Banawa shall take V. Rama Ave., right turn to Katipunan St., left turn to A. Lopez St. proceed all the way to Tres de Abril St., then right turn to Carlock St., left turn to Tupas St. straight to Magallanes St. and to Carbon Area.

 From Carbon Area they shall turn left to F. Gonzales St., left to Magallanes St., right to Borromeo St., left to Sanciangko St., right to Pa-nganiban St., left to N. Bacalso Ave., right to V. Rama Ave. then to their point of origin.

PUJs from Lahug going to downtown via Gen. Maxilom Ave., shall follow the F. Ramos St. route, then right turn to Junquera St., left turn to Colon St., left turn to D. Jakosalem St., then to their point of origin.

PUJs with route No. 14D from Ayala to downtown via Capitol shall still take N. Escario St. then turn left to Juana Osmeña St., right to Gen. Maxilom Ave., left to F. Ramos St. up to Junquera St., then left to Colon St., right to Mabini St., right to V. Gullas St., right to Legaspi St. and straight to Pelaez St., then right to P. Del Rosario St., left to D. Jakosalem St., left to Echavez Extn., right to F. Ramos St., right to Raintree Mall, proceed to Juana Osmeña St., then to their point of origin.

Passenger jeepneys coming from Talamban passing Junquera St., or F. Ramos St. shall turn left to Sikatuna St. straight up to Mabini St., then turn right to V. Gullas St., right to D. Jakosalem St. then to their usual route. Talamban PUJs passing Sikatuna St. shall turn right to Colon St., right to D. Jakosalem St. then to their usual route.

PUJs originating from Basak - Pardo and Labangon passing P. del Rosario St. must turn right to V. Rama Extn., left to Tres de Abril St., left to C. Padilla St., right to Panganiban St., left to Magallanes St., left to Borromeo St. then to their usual route.

Those from Inayawan, Basak - Pardo and Labangon passing Colon St. must turn right to Leon Kilat St., right to Magallanes St. then back to their point of origin.

PUJs from the south bound for SM and White Gold passing Colon St. shall turn right to V. Rama Extn., left to Tres de Abril St., right to Lakandula St., left to C. Padilla St., right to Panganiban St., left to Magallanes St., right to Plaridel St., left to Lincoln St., left to F. Gonzales St. then shall take M.C. Briones St., then left to M.J. Cuenco Ave., right to V. Sotto St., left to Serging Osmeña Blvd. and finally to their destination. From SM or North Bus Terminal, PUJs shall turn left to Gen. Maxilom Ave., turn right to Juana Osmeña St., turn left to J. Llorente St., turn left to C. Rodriguez St., turn right to B. Rodriguez St., turn left to V. Rama Ave., turn right to N. Bacalso Ave. then back to their point of origin.

 Passenger vehicles coming from Urgello and USC Girls High shall take Leon Kilat St., right turn to Sanciangko St., left turn to Panganiban St., left turn to Colon St., right turn to Leon Kilat St., left turn to Magallanes St., right turn to Manalili St., left turn to J. Leyson St., to M.C. Briones St., then left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave., right turn to Palma St., left turn to Arellano Blvd. up to their destination. To go back to their point of origin from Pier area or SM, same PUJs shall take M.J. Cuenco Ave., right turn to Magallanes St., to M.C. Briones St., right turn to D. Jakosalem St., left turn to Magallanes St., to Borromeo St., left turn to Sanciangko St., left turn to N. Bacalso Ave., right turn to V. Rama Ave., right turn to Alcantara St. then to their destination.

Passenger jeepneys coming from Mabolo passing Gen. Maxilom Ave. shall turn left to F. Ramos St., turn right to Junquera St., turn left to Colon St., turn left to Mabini St., turn right to Zulueta St., turn left to M.J. Cuenco Ave then to their usual route.

PUJs originating from Mabolo passing V. Gullas St. shall turn right to Legaspi St., turn right to Colon St., turn left to Mabini St., turn right to Zulueta St., turn left to M.J. Cuenco Ave. then to their point of origin.

Lastly, PUJs coming from Mandaue City passing V. Gullas St. shall turn left to P. Burgos St., turn left to Jereza St., turn left to M.J. Cuenco Ave. then to their usual route.

CITOM assured that traffic signs will be installed to guide the motorists and minimize expected congestion. CITOM also asked the public to extend their patience and prepare for a longer travel time.  (FREEMAN)
