Man charged for molesting child, 13

CEBU, Philippines - For waiving his right to avail of a preliminary investigation, the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office indicted a 47-year-old man for allegedly touching the private parts of a minor.

PO3 Gay Sevilla told The Freeman that the accused chose not to file his counter-affidavit as he would rather face the charges in court.

The case was filed before the Regional Trial Court in Mandaue City.

The state prosecutor recommended P80,000 as bail for the criminal case for acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610.

On December 31, 2012, the Liloan Police Station received a report about a case of child abuse in their place.

Led by PO1 Nelson Alico with the direct supervision of Police Inspector Socrates Medillo, they went to the area where they saw the victim, a 13-year-old and a grade VII student, crying in fear.

The police said the victim pointed to the 47-year-old man as the one who molested her.

Sevilla said the victim and the accused are neighbors.

The police said they intercepted the accused and informed him of his constitutional rights. They brought the accused to their station.

Police said the victim told them the man touched her private parts then uttered “malicious and nasty words.”—  (FREEMAN)
