Police nab 3 dealers of fake vitamins
CEBU, Philippines - Three suspected swindlers were arrested for allegedly selling vitamins to a teenager near the Basilica Del Santo Niño yesterday afternoon.
The suspects were identified as Alvin Remorosa, 41; Jerome Lareta, 28; and Rolly Dologon, 35.
They passed themselves off as dealers of Chinese vitamins victimizing innocent people at the vicinity of the Basilica along Osmeña Boulevard.
They were arrested after Reyna Fuerto, 19, of Barangay Carreta complained to the City Intelligence Branch that she was swindled by the suspects.
Fuerto said she was looking for some stuff to buy when the suspects convinced her to buy cheap Chinese vitamins. The victim said she paid P2,100 and was given a supposed claim stub to get the vitamins from a nearby drugstore.
The victim said she went to the drugstore to claim the vitamins but was told that they do not honor the stubs given to her by the suspects.
The victim returned to the suspects but they were nowhere to be found. Fuerto sought the assistance from the police resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
CIB chief Romeo Santander said they found fake Chinese vitamins from the suspects. A caliber .357 revolver was seized from Dologon.
Charges for robbery and violation of the Bureau of Food and Drugs Code will be filed against the suspects. A separate charge for illegal possession off firearm will also be filed against Dologon. (FREEMAN)
