CEBU, Philippines - A son was arrested after he struck his father dead with wood at their house in Barangay Cantao-an, Naga City last Tuesday morning.
Suspect Ranile Vilchiz, 35, is now detained and will face charges for parricide after killing his own father, Hilario Vilchiz, 66.
Investigation showed that the younger Vilchiz was prompted to maul his father after hearing the latter threatening to kill his mother.
Around 3 p.m. last Monday, Hilario and his wife Clarita Vilchiz, also 66, were arguing.
Ranile, a farmer, was at the house while his parents argued and he overheard his father telling his mother, “Tigbason ka nako.” (I’ll hack you.)
Suddenly, Ranile got a piece of wood and struck the victim’s head several times.
The father was rushed to the South General Hospital for treatment but he died at 1 a.m. the following day.
One Jessie Gallardo, a cousin of the victim, reported the incident to the police at 10 am.
The police then arrested the suspect who will face parricide case.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man was shot dead in a narrow pathway in sitio Tunga, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City at past 5 a.m. last Tuesday.
The fatality was described only as about 30 years old, 5’5” tall, and
fair-skinned. The victim was walking at the narrow pathway when an unidentified assailant shot him. He died of a single gunshot wound at the right side of his head.
Police recovered an empty shell of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene as well as the victim’s empty wallet that only contained a picture and driver’s license bearing the name of Junefer Mahilum with postal address at Camp 3, Jaclupan, Talisay City.
The police was still verifying the identify the victim as of press time and investigating the motive of the attack. — (FREEMAN)
