“ Kasadya sa SRP” launching set

CEBU, Philippines - The second “Kasadya sa SRP” will be officially launched on December 7 at the Sugbu compound in the South Road Properties.

The event which is spearheaded by the office of the City Market Authority will run from December 7 until February 24 of next year.

It is open daily from 6 pm up to 12 midnight from December 7 up to January 20.  Starting on January 21 up to February 24 it will only be available on Fridays and Saturdays.

Raquel Bohol-Arce, city market administrator, promises a much better rides and more fun this year because they have prepared well for the said event. There will be carnival, food stalls and market-market for dry goods.

Arce said they are more prepared and organized this year compared to their first staging of the Kasadya sa SRP last year.

“There will be more programs on Fridays and Saturdays, as this is considered a family day and it will feature different programs everyday with special numbers from different performers,” said Arce.

The city government is providing free bus rides from Mambaling and from Malacañang sa Sugbo to the venue.

Arce has also called on all barangays to provide transportation for their own constituents who wish to visit the SRP during the staging of the Kasadya festival.

The selling of firecrackers will start on December 15. Arce however said that they have reduced the number of vendors who will be allowed to sell firecrackers at the SRP. She said there will only be 50 vendors to be allowed this year from 79 last year.

Firecracker stalls will be arranged at a distance of seven meters from each stall for safety reason.

Arce wanted at least one fire truck on standby near the area in case of emergency. Each stall is also provided with a fire extinguisher by the city government.

The Bureau of Fire Protection has also advised firecracker vendors to prepare a pail of water.

BFP personnel will conduct an ocular inspection of the site before and during the putting up of the stalls.

A perimeter fence will be constructed within the firecrackers zone to separate it from the carnival, food and market-market stalls.

A stall for firecrackers costs between P7,000 to P15,000 depending on its location. Food stalls cost P8,000 while P6,000 for market-market stall. — (FREEMAN)
