CEBU, Philippines - Newly appointed Provincial Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale is alarmed by the rising crime incidents in Danao City.
Magpale, in his first resolution filed before the PB weeks after he assumed office, urged the Cebu Provincial Police Office to implement more aggressive campaign against criminalities in the city.
Magpale assumed office over a month ago filling in the position vacated by her mother, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, who succeeded the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr.
The young Magpale said that for the past few months, several crime incidents such as snatching, robbery, and murder have been recorded in Danao City. He considered these incidents to be alarming.
He said that most crimes involved riding-in-tandem criminals who do not only rob victims of their personal belongings but also threaten or actually harm them with deadly weapons.
Based on statistics, there were 77 robbery incidents, 73 theft, 14 carnapping, 11 murder, 2 homicide, 32 physical injuries and 8 rape cases have been recorded from January to October 2012.
“It would be much better to heighten police visibility in some key areas, conduct police checkpoints, and increase the number of patrolling policemen,” PB Member Mapale said.
For public interest and general welfare, the board member said there is an urgent need for the CPPO to intervene and solve the high incidents of crime the soonest possible time to stabilize and restore the peace and order situation in the city.—(FREEMAN)
