Buy-bust nets police chief’s nephew

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A nephew of a town police chief was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Borbon Police Thursday evening in Barangay Tagnucan, Borbon.

Sunny Ben Manloloyo, 31, of Barangay Poblacion, Tabogon and nephew of Insp. Anecito Manloloyo, San Remigio police chief, was arrested after police successfully completed the transaction with him.

Seized from Manloloyo’s possession were five small packets of shabu worth P1,000 and the P1,000 marked money.

Insp. Manloloyo said the suspect has been ignoring advice.

“Dugay nana gisigihan ug badlong pero dili maminaw,” the San Remigio police chief said of his nephew. (He refuses to heed advice.)

Insp. Manloloyo added that he is not sure if his nephew is also involved in other illegal activities.

Illegal drugs recovered were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 in Camp Sotero Cabahug for chemical analysis.

Manloloyo is now detained at the Borbon stockade pending charges for illegal possession of illegal drugs in court. He was under surveillance by the Tabogon police for a few weeks after reports of his illegal drugs trade reached the police station but during operation, Manloloyo eluded arrest.

Manloloyo’s illegal activity reached Borbon town which prompted the Borbon police to conduct the operation.

He was arrested right after the poseur buyer handed P1,000 in exchange to the packets of shabu.

PO3 Rey Suson of the Borbon Police Station said Manloloyo could dispose at least 20 small packets of shabu in a day or 140 packets worth P28,000 in a week.—  (FREEMAN)
