CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia distributed yesterday around 2,500 kits to each of the senior citizens in Carcar City dubbed as “Halad sa Gugma Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola”.
It was the second for this year which the senior citizens hope that the program will be continued beyond the term of Garcia, said Andres Rensulat Jr., the president of the city’s Federation of the Senior Citizen Organizations.
Unopposed congressional bet Gerald Anthony “Sam-Sam” Gullas of the first district who represented his grandfather, Rep. Eduardo Gullas, also announced good news for the senior citizens.
Gullas said that on November 9, 115 selected senior citizens in Carcar City will start receiving P500 each per month under the Social Pension program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development facilitated by the congressional office of his grandfather.
The young Gullas asked the senior citizens to support third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia for governor in order to realize their wish to continue the program of the province for them.
Pablo John and his runningmate, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV were also present during the distribution of kits. The kits contained two kilos of rice, rubbing alcohol, treatment oil, vitamins and eyeglasses.
Carcar City Mayor Necipuro Apura emphasized that the program for the senior citizens was brought by Gov. Garcia to them with or without elections.
Apura said that only during the term of Garcia the program for senior citizens was implemented thus, it must be continued by supporting Pablo John.
Pablo John assured that the program of his sister will be continued as popularized by his nickname, PJ, which means “Padayunon Jud.”—(FREEMAN)
