Carnapped vehicle recovered, Iranian flees country
CEBU, Philippines - The vehicle that an Iranian took from a car display center in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City last week was recovered by its owner in a parking lot at the Parkmall at the North Reclamation area in Mandaue city last Tuesday evening.
It was Diego Famador himself, the owner of the Honda Jazz with plate no.7C-809, who recovered the car after it was parked by Nicjnejad Hossein, a 62-year-old Irish who is temporarily residing at the Alpha Suites along Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Banilad, Man-daue city.
Famador immediately sought the help of the security officer of Parkmall who then informed the police about the carnapped vehicle.
Operatives of the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) immediately arrived at Parkmall and invited both Famador and Hossein to the Man-daue City Police Office .
At the IDMB, it was learned that the said vehicle, taken by Iranian Hamid Reiza Seifi Pour took from the car display center last September 21, was sold to Hossein in the amount of P500,000.
IDMB Deputy Chief P /Insp.Ramil Morpos said that Hossein was able to show a written agreement receipt that he made an advance payment of P250,000 to the Iranian and that the remaining balance will be paid in full once the certificate of ownership will be transferred to his name.
But since Famador was able to present an original certificate of registration and a police report that his car was carnapped, Morpos said that they turned it over to the owner yesterday since proof of ownership was shown.
It was learned that the said car was offered to the Irish man who visited the suspect in his restaurant at Escario Street in Cebu city.
Morpos said that before the Irish left their office, he also urged him to file a swindling case against the Iranian. He also said that in a talk with Bureau of Immigration Chief Casimiro Madarang, the latter confirmed that the suspect already left the country.
Aside from taking the car for a test drive and not return it, Pour is also facing other charges after he owed an American $10,000 and for pocketing P21,000 from Radical Ads, an establishment adjacent to his restaurant that paid electrical bills through him. — (FREEMAN)
