SWAT nabs BIN member for drugs

CEBU, Philippines - A former member of the Barangay Intelligence Network was nabbed by the members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) in a checkpoint yesterday morning in V. Rama Ave, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Irefred Caballero, 29, yielded seven small and two medium packs of shabu worth almost P20,000 and shabu paraphernalia.

Illegal drugs recovered were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 for chemical analysis.

The SWAT members were conducting checkpoint when Caballero, who was not wearing a helmet, was approaching. The SWAT members tried to stop him but Caballero tried to get away.

A brief chase ensued before the SWAT cornered Caballero in front of the San Roque Chapel along Englis St. and V. Rama Ave.

Caballero is now detained at the Cebu City stockade pending charges for violating Sections 11 and 12 of RA 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. – (FREEMAN)
