Six Cebu bridges eyed for inclusion in DPWH's Spanish-assisted projects
CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Development Council-7 has identified six bridges in the Province of Cebu to be included in the Department of Public Works and Highways’ Spanish-assisted bridge construction and replacement project.
These are the Matab-ang Bridge I and II; Suba Bridge and Talavera Bridge, all in Toledo City; and the Sumaguan and Dugo-an bridges in Argao town.
The DPWH-7 earlier identified these bridges having deteriorating structural integrity.
This means that the bridges may no longer safe to vehicular traffic.
The DPWH-7 recommended to its central office the replacement of the said bridges by including those in the said project.
This is to ensure the safe mobility of people, goods and services to and from the western and southern parts of Cebu Province and likewise expand economic activities within their areas of influence.
The Cebu Provincial Development Council Executive Committee in its meeting last July 16 endorsed the said bridges for inclusion in the program.
Last September 7, the RDC Infrastructure Development Committee recommended the endorsement of the project.
The RDC-7 in its full council meeting today in Dumaguete City is set to formally endorse the inclusion of the bridges in the DPWH Spanish-Assisted Bridge Construction/Replacement Project. —(FREEMAN)
