Philpost expands services, accepts bill payments

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - To keep itself relevant in the advent of new technology, the Philippine Postal Corporation –Visayas has partnered with private entities as well as government agencies to expand its services using the new technology.

Ben Quiros, PhilPost-7 director for Operations, said that they are now adopting electronic mail business system that allows its clients to tract and trace the status of their mails through the internet.

This is in line with the modernization of the country’s mailing agency.

Quiros said that they also partnered with i-Bayad Center, wherein they accept payments for utilities such as water bills (Metropolitan Cebu Water District) and power bills (Visayan Electric Company, Inc.).

Quiros however said that for MCWD payments, only the four major postal offices will accept payments. These are Cebu Central (near Plaza Independencia), Mandaue City (near the Subangdaku flyover), Lapulapu City (near City Hall) and Talisay City (at the ground floor of its City Hall).

Quiros said that Philpost also accepts payments for PLDT bills and premium payments for insurance, Philhealth and Social Security System free of additional charges.

“No additional charges will be collected,” Quiros said.

Quiros said that there is now an ongoing negotiation with Philhealth that premium payments can be made not just in the four major postal offices but also in other parts of Cebu province.— (FREEMAN)
