Unidentified man shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A young man was found dead with at least three gunshot wounds in his head and body in a forested area in sitio Pitogo, Barangay Tubod, in the town of Minglanilla last Friday morning.

The fatality’s identity was not yet known as of press time. He was described to be around 20 to 25 years old, abut 5’1” tall, and had brown complexion.

He wore black and white shorts and a white shirt, with another violet-colored inner shirt.

Police also found tattoo marks on the different parts of the victim’s body like “Rommel Mendoza” tattoo markings on the left side of his chest, “Rosemarie” on the right and “Jerome” on the lower part of his nape.

PO2 Vincent Alinabo of Minglanilla Police said that they responded to the area after receiving the report and saw the victim sprawling bloodied on the ground, and still breathing.

Police rushed the victim to the Minglanilla District Hospital for treatment but the victim expired about two hours later while doctors attended to him.

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds in the left side of his head, below the left side of the chest, and on his hip.

According to the investigation, residents in the area heard three successive bursts of gunfire and later saw the victim already injured.

Police later recovered three empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol from the area where the victim was shot.

Police are still trying to determine the victim’s identity to eventually determine the motive behind the attack.

The body was brought to Saint Francis Funeral Homes in Talisay City.

Meanwhile, a sales manager of a car store luckily escaped death after two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle, tried to shoot him in Abellana Barracks, Barrio Luz, last Friday night.

The victim was identified as Braulio Villalino, 36, a sales manager of Kia Motors.

The victim, a resident of the place, narrated to the police that he was parking his car in the area when two men riding on a motorcycle came near him. One pointed a gun at him.

The assailant pulled the trigger in an attempt to shoot him but it didn’t fire.

The victim used the opportunity and quickly maneuvered his car away from the place and eventually escaped from the assailants.

The two men then fled from the area.

Police are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack as the victim claimed that he has no known enemy. (FREEMAN)
