No foul play in Lapu-Lapu drowning

CEBU, Philippines - The police ruled out foul play on the death of a Japenese national who was found floating in the waters off Pandanon Island as the autopsy result showed that he drowned.

PNP Crime Laboratory-7 medico legal officer, Dr. Nestor Satur, revealed that Kenji Inamasu's lungs were filled with water that caused his death.

Inamasu went snorkeling with his friends last Saturday in the waters off Pandanon Island in Getafe, Bohol.

However, he was found floating facing down and unconscious by his companions.

He was brought to a hospital in Lapu-Lapu City but was declared dead on arrival.

On the other hand, relatives of another drowning victim, Korean national Hyo Kim Ahn, 63, did not agree to submit her body to an autopsy.

Satur said her relatives have accepted her death because Hyo was suffering from a heart problem.

Hyo and her friends rented a boat for island hopping and snorkeling last Saturday.

Upon reaching Barangay Talima, Olango Island, she jumped off the boat with her snorkel on.

Minutes later, she was found unconscious and was rushed to a hospital in Lapu-Lapu City. However, she died before reaching the hospital.

The fatalities were brought to Cebu Rolling Hills Funeral Chapels in Mandaue City.

Hyo was scheduled for cremation yesterday and her ashes will be brought to her country.  (FREEMAN)
