CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested a purchaser of Camella Homes last Friday night after he allegedly took the payroll money of the company.

Louie Rosales, 19, a purchaser of Camella Homes Gorordo Ave. branch, allegedly stole P400,000 from the company last Friday.

Rosales was arrested by operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section led by Insp. Rolando Pinili in the vicinity of the office yesterday noon.

During an interview with the media yesterday, Rosales admitted to the crime. He said he was tempted by the amount of money that was entrusted to him.

“Na-tempt ra g’yud ko tungod pud sa family problem karon nga akong giatubang,” the suspect said.

He said that his job in the company was only a purchaser, but he is sometimes entrusted to safekeep the payroll money.

He also claimed that he tried to return the money as he regretted his actions.

SPO1 Marlon Mendoza of the TRS said the incident was reported Friday night. After they arrested Rosales, the suspect cooperated and divulged where he hid the money.

Mendoza said the money was placed in a black bag hidden under a bed inside a hotel room along Juan Luna St. where the suspect hid after he stole the money.

Only P301,000 was recovered.

Randy Badayos, Camella Homes site engineer, said he thought of Rosales as a diligent worker. The teenager had been working for the company for six months already.

“Na-shock g’yud mi nga iya diay tong mahimo kay as a worker, he is diligent with his work,” Badayos said.

A case for qualified theft will be filed against the suspect who is temporarily detained in the Cebu City Police Office detention cell.  (FREEMAN)
