Sen. Cayetano gives P3M for VSMMC patients

- Jose P. Sollano - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Senator Allan Peter Cayetano has allocated another P3 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund for patients admitted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Rey Martinez, staff of Senator Allan Peter Cayetano and convenor of the Compañero Cayetano Tabang Volunteers, said the amount will be deposited directly to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

According to Martinez, Senator Cayetano promised to continue the medical assistance program for patients admitted at Vicente Sotto Hospital.

Senator Allan Peter Cayetano and his sister Senator Pia Cayetano earlier allocated P5 million for VSMMC patients.

Both senators signed a memorandum of agreement with the VSMMC to provide medical assistance for indigent patients who seek treatment at the government-owned hospital.

At present, the hospital is using the remaining balance of the P5 million for the purchase of medicines for patients.

Martinez said that with the new allocation, they made some changes where the patients can use the assistance for billing and not only for medicines.

They are set to formalize the program with VSMMC officials once the money is officially deposited to the hospital.

Every patient admitted at the government-run hospital will receive P1,000 up to P2,500 medical referral from the office of Cayetano through Martinez .

Residents from the different cities and municipalities in Cebu and even from Bohol and Negros Oriental may avail of the program.

The Cebu provincial board passed a resolution expressing their gratitude to the Cayetanos’ for the medical assistance given to the Cebuanos.  (FREEMAN)
