Cebu Tourism Road Map launching today

CEBU, Philippines - With its vision to double the number of tourist arrivals in Cebu in five years, a proposed Cebu Tourism Road Map will be launched today at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel by the Cebu Coalition of Fourteen Business Chambers and Civil Service Organizations.

Under the “Partnership for Better Infrastructure”, the launching will also include the signing of commitment of support from the Department of Tourism, Department of Public Works and Highways, Cebu legislators, local government executives and other industry players in the business sector.

The road map has four guiding principles as its foundation, which include the stakeholder involvement, sustainability of Cebu’s natural and heritage assets, integration of existing studies and plans along with its consistency with the national tourism road map and achievable recommendations to ensure the conciseness and feasibility of the proposals within the time frame.

Within five years, advocates of the tourism road map intend to enhance Cebu’s strengths as a prime tourism center in the country, develop new sustainable and authentic tourism products that cater to the current and new market demands, and create more linkages among local destinations and businesses with different products and services.

It will further be supported with the planning and implementation of efficient infrastructure projects critical for the development of tourism in Cebu.

The Cebu Tourism Road map will be presented by Cebu Business Club Executive Director Perry Fajardo while Research Educational and Institutional Development Foundation Vice President Cherrylyn Rodolfo will tackle on the circuit development and benchmarking of the Philippine Tourism Road map.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, DOT and DPWH secretaries legislators and mayors from the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu, tourism players and various organizations are expected to grace this event.  (FREEMAN)
