Road mishap kills woman in Naga

CEBU, Philippines - A female production worker of the Apo Cement died after she was hit by a speeding vehicle while waiting for a ride along the National Highway in Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City early morning yesterday.  

Maria Victoria Saramosing, 37, a resident of the said place, suffered severe injuries when an Isuzu Elf driven by Francis Villegas hit her. Villegas came from Cebu City and was heading south when upon reaching the said place a tricycle suddenly crossed prompting him to swerve to the right where the victim was standing.

Villegas, 37, of Barangay Pardo, Cebu City voluntarily surrendered after the incident while the responding policemen brought the victim to Minglanilla District Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

The police are now preparing criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the driver. FPL (FREEMAN)
