PUV operators told:Clear with LTFRB before vehicle registration expires

CEBU, Philippines - Public transport operators are advised to secure a clearance with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board at least two weeks before the renewal of their registration to avoid delays and penalties.

LTFRB-7 Director Ahmed Cuizon issued the advisory after several operators have complained about the delays in the renewal of their registration at the Land Transportation Office because of the required clearance from his office.

“Dapat magpa confirm na sila sa LTFRB two weeks before mo expire ang ilang rehistro sa sakyanan para dili na sila malangay (they should seek confirmation with the LTFRB two weeks before their vehicle registration expires),” Cuizon said.

The “interconnectivity” project of the LTFRB and LTO started in September 3, 2012 to synchronize the confirmation and registration of public utility vehicles.

The   interconnectivity project is also designed to eradicate out-of-line and colorum operation. Cuizon said that under this project, the days of colorum and out-of-line operators are already numbered.

“Dili na gyud na makalusot na ang mga colorum ug out-of-line vehicles (There is no way that colorum and out-of-line vehicles can be registered),” said Cuizon.

LTO-7 Director Raul Aguilos said delinquent vehicle owner who fails to register his vehicle for more than two years shall be required to pay 150-percent penalty, depending on the amount of the last registration.FPL (FREEMAN)
