Dilaab Foundation spearheads recollection for public officials

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - With the hope of reminding them that public service is a vocation, Dilaab Foundation, Inc. will hold a recollection for Metro Cebu’s public officials and those aspiring for public office.

“The purpose of this discernment recollection is to remind those in the elected position and those who intend to seek to be elected next year that public service is a vocation. It is even difficult than being a priest, as it is a 24/7 job,” said Diola, Dilaab Foundation, Inc. head.

“So kinahanglan mahigmata sila nga bokasyon nila. Kung Ginoo gani ang nagtawag nila, kinahanglan nila nga sundon ang iyang balaud. Dili magbuhat og imoral sama sa pagpalit og boto, (They should be aware of their vocation that if God is calling them, they must follow His law and not do immoral acts like vote-buying.)” he said.

Diola explained that in this discernment recollection they will also remind the participants that it is not true that only those who buy votes can win because if one is really destined by God to win, He will help him.

Diola said he has been to various places in the country, and despite the culture of vote-buying in most areas, there are still public servants who have been elected without resorting to vote-buying, “kung gitawag gyud ka sa Ginoo, ang Ginoo motabang kanimo. (If God is calling you, He will help you.)”

Diola said the event, which is scheduled on September 30, will have participants from all over Metro Cebu. As of yesterday, there were already those who confirmed their attendance but Diola refused to give out their names.

This is the second discernment recollection, the first was in 2010 for that year’s national polls.  (FREEMAN)
