Third jail escapee recaptured
CEBU, Philippines - Another detainee who escaped from jail last Saturday was recaptured by operatives of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office yesterday afternoon in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Junry Iran, 21, who was earlier arrested for a theft case, was recaptured by a team led by Insp. Donal Geniston, the former station chief of Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 3 where the detainees escaped.
Geniston said that Iran was arrested after his mother, who is from Barili town, informed them that her son might be hiding in his uncle’s house in Barangay Canduman.
Geniston said that they immediately proceeded to the said barangay and was able to arrest the suspect who was hiding under a wooden bed.
“Nagtuo mi nga didto kay pag-abre namo sa portahan sa bay wa may tawo, ug diha ra diay siya mitago ilawom sa katre duol sa purtahan,” Geniston said.
The suspect is now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office detention cell while waiting for his commitment order for Lapu-Lapu City Jail.
Iran and three others escaped from the detention cell of the Police Station 3 at the Poblacion Public Market last Saturday morning by bending the iron bars.
They succeeded in escaping as the jailer during the time of incident PO2 Jude Salazar was out for breakfast.
Two escapees have since been recaptured, leaving one last man on the lam. — (FREEMAN)
