CEBU, Philippines - The story of Kienner Baller just seems to be getting stranger and stranger.

After Baller was accused of killing a two-year-old boy last Tuesday in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City, reasoning that aliens were after him, the other day he tried to bite the necks of two fellow in mates in the Talisay City police office detention cell.

The Talisay City police immediately transferred Baller, 35, to an isolation cell at the Talisay City Jail.

Bobby Villarosa, 30, told The FREEMAN that he was sleeping last Wednesday dawn when Baller suddenly choked him and held him tight. When Baller closed in to bite his neck Villarosa elbowed him and fought him off.

Earlier, Baller also did the same to Francis Wendel Labuca, 30, of Barangay Tabunok.

Two other detainees and jailer, PO2 Leandro Azarcon overpowered Baller and handcuffed his right hand to the bars.

During a tactical interrogation, Talisay City Jail Warden Reynante Rubio said Baller was straightforward but refused to answer some questions.

Jail Officer 3 Rey Larida, jail nurse, said that Baller was moved because he was unstable.

“Maong gilahi namo siya kay naa’y tendency nga mangamong o ba kaha maghikog ni siya,” Larida said.

Jail personnel plan to request Regional Trial Court Branch 17 Judge Sylvestre Maamo to allow Baller to be subjected to a psychiatric checkup at the Mandaluyong City Mental Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Talisay City Prosecutor’s Office recommended no bail against Baller for murder.

Prosecutor Jenelyn Forrosuelo elevated the case to the court after the accused chose not to file a counter-affidavit to answer the allegations filed against him.

In his complaint affidavit, Jeffrey Abucejo Sr., the father of the victim Jeffrey Jr., said last Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. he was at the back of his house in Biasong, Talisay City, when he heard his wife shouting.

He added his wife told that their son was “pulled and struck” by the accused into the pavement near their house.

“I immediately went to my wife who cuddled my son bloodied all over his body and then we rushed to Talisay City District Hospital of which we were referred to Vicente Sotto Medical Center where the doctor pronounced my son dead on arrival,” the affidavit read.

In her affidavit, Ruth Saniel, 35, sister of the accused said she was at the beach near their house when she saw her brother with blood on his shoulder.

She went home to verify what happened and her sister told her that Kienner had attacked a two-year old child, slamming his head into the pavement.

With that information, she turned her brother over to the police.

The suspected attacked the toddler after the latter bumped into him while he was playing with other kids.

“Kan-on ko sa alien maong giunahan nako Manang…dili kaayo ko mahurot kung mausap ko sa alien,” he later told his sister.

Baller, who recently underwent drug rehabilitation for six months, had reportedly been alone in his house and just watched horror movies all day before the incident happened. —/BRP - THE FREEMAN
