Delivery truck loses P400,000 to robbers

CEBU, Philippines - A delivery truck of an edible oil lost P400,000 cash to two unidentified robbers while collecting payments Saturday afternoon in Sitio Bulubogan, Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan.

One of the two robbers aimed an undetermined caliber of firearm at Allan Encila Muñoz, 40, of Bulacao, Pardo, Cebu City and sales representative of the Benison Commercial Corporation owned by Conley Dy.

Muñoz was left with no other choice when the robber suddenly grabbed the black bag containing the P200,000 cash and another P200,000 worth of check.

Prior to the incident, Muñoz was reportedly collecting payments and an empty container of edible oil at the store owned by Terso Fernandez when the robbers wearing a full-faced helmet stopped before him.

One of the robbers wearing a blue T-shirt disembarked pulling out an undetermined caliber of firearm and immediately grabbed the bag containing the cash that Muñoz was carrying.

The robber then embarked to the awaiting XRM getaway motorcycle without plate number and fled towards the direction of Toledo City.

Muñoz together with his truck boys Paulo Castro, 30, of Danao City; Jeffrey Torres, 19, of Sibonga; Jerry Martinez, 29, Mandaue City; and Richard Navarro, 35, Mandaue City, boarded their ten-wheeler van and tried to chase the robbers but to no avail.

Insp. Raymundo Enriquez, Pinamungajan police chief, said they identified the robbers as members of an organized robbery group. They were also escapees from Leyte province.

Enriquez refused to disclose the names of the robbers pending investigation. He added the victims were monitored well and were tailed before robbers carried out their plan.

“We identified four of them but ang na-involved sa robbery kay duha lang,” Enriquez told The FREEMAN in a phone interview.

Police are now conducting hot pursuit operation to apprehend the robbers.  (FREEMAN)
