CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7 hosted a three-day workshop to resolve issues on the implementation of forestry programs and projects, and set meaningful strategic directions.
DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Dr. Isabelo R. Montejo said the activity is regularly done by forestry planners, implementers and other stakeholders to review the execution of DENR programs.
Almost 80 participants from 15 regions took part in the event. They included regional technical directors for forest management services (FMS), regional planning officers, and chiefs of forest resources development division (FRDD) and forest resources conservation division.
Among the output of the workshop are the agreement among participants on how to improve forestry programs, the community road map and National Greening Program sites for 2013, and the unit of work measurement and unit costing for forestry.
“This is a very important activity considering the instructions of DENR Secretary Ramon JP Paje to prepare a relevant plan in meeting the target of planting and growing 1.5 billion trees to cover 1.5 million hectares until 2016, especially on mangrove and fuelwood tree plantation,” Montejo said in a statement. - THE FREEMAN
