Young: "Angry" posters meant to hit Rama

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young yesterday said the controversial posters printed with “Type Angry O Ko” are distributed by their supporters intended to criticize the failure of Mayor Michael Rama to solve several problems of the city.

Young called up The FREEMAN yesterday afternoon to clarify that Rama has nothing to do with those posters, which he said are meant to criticize Rama’s administration that failed to solve problems like flooding, proper distribution of medicines and others.

There were earlier speculations that the posters were distributed by the camp of Team Rama purposely to criticize Cebu City South District Rep. Tomas R. Osmeña who is always angry at his political enemies.

Young remembered that when he visited Barangays Lahug and Apas several weeks ago, he was approached by some youth groups who showed him similar posters and even asked him to finance for the printing and they will be the ones to distribute it.

“Ako sila nga gibalibaran nga dili ko maka-finance sa printing kay daku kaayo ang kinahanglang budget ana kay ang ubang barangay mangayo man g’yud. Mao na nga karon duna tingali mi-finance sa gasto kay migawas man na,” said Young. (I told them I couldn’t possibly finance such an expensive undertaking but apparently, someone has given them funds.)

But Young said the original version when it was showed to him was that the words to be printed in the posters were “Type O Ko, Angry Ko,” not “Type Angry O Ko.”

The vice mayor explained that the words “Type O Ko,” would mean that the one who supported the project are supporters of Osmeña and the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan (BOPK), while the word “Angry Ko” also meant that they are angry at Rama’s failure to solve the people’s problems.

According to Young, Osmeña did not know about it because he did not tell him of what was proposed by the youth in Barangays Apas and Lahug.

“Mao na nga dihang gipangutana si Tommy sa media bahin sa posters wala siya makatubag kay wala man siya mahibalo,” said the vice mayor. (That’s the reason Tommy was not able to answer questions from the media, he did not know about this). - THE FREEMAN
