2 dead in 1 hour

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - In just a span of one hour, two men were killed after they were stabbed by their neighbors in the different areas of Cebu City yesterday.

Romnick Archival, 21, died instantly after Allan Cuizon, 36, stabbed a bolo in his left chest at the height of their argument in sitio Mahiga, Barangay Banilad at 2:30 am yesterday.

Archival, a houseboy, was reportedly playing a card game while having a drinking session with Cuizon and another neighbor when Archival and Cuizon suddenly figured in a verbal tussle and later into a fistfight.

Archival’s brother, Wilfredo Sr., intervened and pulled Romnick away but the latter quickly returned and threw a stone at Cuizon’s house.

This prompted Cuizon to get a bolo and chase Archival, together with Orlando Survilla, a fellow construction worker.

Survilla held Romnick while Cuzion stabbed him on the left side of his chest, with the tip of the bolo sticking out of his back.

Cuizon fled while Survilla was arrested by the responding policemen from Mabolo Police Station.

Police recovered the bolo which was turned over by Cuizon’s wife, Rosa. Cuizon is now being pursued.

An hour later, 45-year-old James Castaño, a roadside vendor, died after he was also stabbed by a certain Butsoy Bagang, 38, in sitio Taytayana, Barangay Buhisan.

Castaño, a roadside vendor, was found sprawling on the road with stab wounds in his chest and back.

Castaño’s brother, Gilbert , 44, told police that it was Bagang who stabbed his brother over some personal grudge later last year. Gilbert disclosed that his brother is a jealous person.
