Girl, 14, found dead in well
CEBU, Philippines - A 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Thursday evening was found dead and dumped in an abandoned deep well in Barangay Tigabawan, Tabuelan town yesterday.
Police suspect that victim Juliana Lahoylahoy was raped but they are still waiting for the autopsy report.
The victim was only wearing a sleeveless shirt and a pair of shorts. A white T-shirt was tied around her neck.
“Usually, she wears white T-shirt as it is her school uniform. But she was no longer wearing her skirt and the shirt was tied around her neck,” Insp. Roberto Hugo, officer-in-charge of the Tabuelan Police Station, said.
The body also suffered cuts and contusions believed to be caused by the impact when she was thrown into the well.
Lahoylahoy was a second year high school student of San Miguel National High School in San Remigio town. She was the youngest of six siblings.
Last Thursday, she failed to return home after her afternoon classes. Her family sought police assistance in locating her. They searched secluded areas and caves but to no avail.
At around 8 a.m. yesterday, the victim’s older brother, Junie, and her uncle Lando checked the abandoned deep well and found her already dead.
Nobody witnessed the crime as there are no houses near the deep well.
Police are still conducting further investigation. (FREEMAN)
