Car hits child in Talamban
CEBU, Philippines - An eight-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit struck by a car at around noon yesterday at Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
The victim, Allen Gelig, was hit by the Toyota Vios driven by Emilo Evasco, 23, of Basak Mandaue City, near Silver Hills Subdivision at around 11:45 a.m.
Traffic investigator Nelson Jayme said they have yet to determine where the suspect was heading.
Jayme said the victim was crossing the road when the suspect’s car, bearing plate number AEX – 353, hit the victim in the middle of the noontime rush.
He said Gelig was taken to the North General Hospital but was later transferred to Chong Hua Hospital.
Police said they still do not have enough details regarding the incident because Evasco and the victim’s relatives are providing for his medical needs. Investigation will resume once the victim’s condition improves.
Evasco may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries or homicide, unless the victim’s family would opt for amicable settlement. (FREEMAN)
