Son stabs father over goats

- Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A man stabbed his father during a fight that stemmed from the former’s failure to transfer their six goats to the grassy area last Tuesday evening in Sitio Banika, Barangay Bahay, Sibonga.

Manuel Nerosa, 67, and his son, Emmanuel, 33 both had injuries in different parts of their bodies after the fistfight.

Manuel was rushed to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment while Emmanuel was detained at the Sibonga police stockade.

According to SPO1 Jaime Mendoza of the Sibonga Police Station, Emmanuel is the breadwinner of the family. The son reportedly had a grudge at his father, due to a previous misunderstanding but his anger was triggered last Tuesday.

Emmanuel reportedly failed to transfer their six goats earlier that day to graze at a grassy lot because he was having a drinking session at a store several meters away from their house.

Manuel, who was at their farm the whole day, only found out that their goats have not been transferred when he arrived later in the evening.

Emmanuel, who was under the influence of liquor, later arrived and started arguing with his father which resulted to a fist fight.

Manuel reportedly took a piece of wood and hit Emmanuel several times but the latter managed to get a bladed weapon and stabbed his father three times.

Police arrested Emmanuel but failed to recover the weapon used.

Mendoza said the family are not interested to file charges. — (FREEMAN)
