Two arrested for drugs
CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested for illegal possession and for using illegal drugs in separate operations in the towns of Balamban and Dalaguete last Monday.
A man who was accused of damage to property and harassment by his former live-in partner is instead facing charges for possession of illegal drugs after police recovered from his possession three small packets of shabu at around 8:30p.m.
It was a certain Rutchie Rañola who called the police station for assistance after Oliver Villahermosa, 35, “went wild” at the house of her friend.
SPO3 Arvie Banate, Balamban police investigator, said Rañola told them Villahermosa was under the influence of liquor and was armed with a gun.
Policemen took Villahermosa to the police station where he was temporarily detained for being drunk.
Banate said they frisked Villahermosa and found the packs of illegal drugs.
Rañola was at first bent on filing charges against Villahermosa but she did not appear at the police station yesterday. Police, however, filed a complaint against him for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Meanwhile, the Dalaguete police caught a man sniffing shabu at around 3:00 in the afternoon in Sitio Panaguikan, Barangay Tapon.
Rey “Barere” Evangelista, 29, of Barangay Cawayan was caught with eight small packets of shabu.
Police received a call from a concerned citizen informing them of the illegal activity at a grassy area in the said place. Acting on the tip, PO3 Allan Sanoy, PO1 Christopher Romarate and PO1 Arnel Calisang immediately went to the place and saw Evangelista sniffing shabu.
Evangelista tried to elude the arrest but the police cornered him. A complaint for violation of Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 was filed yesterday at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. – (FREEMAN)
