Due to 'Unbearable Stench' woman faints inside CCPO cell

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A female detainee at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) reportedly fainted inside her cell due to the ‘unbearable stench’ of the area.

Glizel De Claro, 27, of San Roque, Barangay Mambaling, this city, alleged that she fainted inside her cell because of the poor sanitation inside the cell where she was detained.

Police security personnel manning the detention cell reported the incident to her arresting officers from the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) to retrieve her momentarily at around 10 a.m. yesterday.

Investigators alleged De Claro was only acting so that she will be released from the detention cell.

De Claro was arrested by elements of the IDMB headed by Chief Insp. Bonifacio Garciano for violating the Anti-Alias law and for Estafa at around 3 p.m. last Wednesday.

Garciano said security personnel from Globe Telecommunications sought help from their office after discovering the suspect’s illegal activities.

He said De Claro used a fictitious name in applying for a new postpaid plan under Globe on Wednesday. Investigation revealed the suspect earlier applied for a Samsung Galaxy S III plan 999 at E-mall but her application was rejected.

She later submitted the same personal information but this time, with a different name. De Claro denied commenting on her case yesterday.

Gerald Bechayda, security personnel for Globe Central Visayas, said they discovered the fraudulent profile of the suspect in their intensified verification process for their applicants.

“She had two other accounts under her original name. She is also known under the name of Donabell Ardiente and Kack Chua in her fraudulent accounts,” he said in Cebuano.

As of the moment, Bechayda said they are also monitoring other accounts which might also be fraudulent. They have also alerted their 6 centers in Cebu to be extra careful in approving plans.

Bechayda admitted that since she transferred to the region four years ago, reports of similar problems have been non-stop. In time, however, they hope that their intensified updates and enhancement of their monitoring system will solve the problem. — (FREEMAN)
