Worker dies inside cement mixer
CEBU, Philippines - A worker was killed last Wednesday evening in Sitio Eskina Binabag, Barangay Estaca, Compostela town, when the cement mixer he was cleaning suddenly activated.
The victim was identified as Jonathan Rondina, 31, a resident of the said area and a worker of John Joseph Block Merchandising.
Police said the victim was with co-worker Radel Baladjay when the freak accident happened.
The victim was cleaning inside the mixer and Baladjay was outside when the machine suddenly activated.
Baladjay ran to ask for help and co-worker Renelito Rojo hurriedly shut down power to the mixer, but the victim was already dead.
Police said there appears to be no foul play as the mixer had a history of suddenly starting up by itself.
The victim’s body was brought to the Pangpangenue Funeral Homes in Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City. — (FREEMAN)
