CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s bid for the Senate in 2013 yesterday gets another support from the officials, faculty and staff members of a state university in Negros Oriental who visited the Capitol for their annual educational tour.
Officials and teachers of the Negros Oriental State University led by the wife of Governor Roel Degamo visited Garcia at the Capitol recently as part of their Lakbay Aral’s itinerary.
Janice Degamo and NORSU Siaton campus administrator Dr. Juanita Soles, who were speaking on behalf of the group, said they will support Garcia’s candidacy for the Senate. Earlier, Gov. Degamo also promised Negros Oriental’s support for Garcia.
“We just told her we are going to support her for 2013,” said Janice.
Soles on the other hand said she was impressed by the governor’s achievements in Cebu and vowed to support her.
“I really appreciate her being a mother and an experienced businesswoman. A very excellent businesswoman, a very good budget officer and as a campus administrator I learned many things from her,” Soles said.
Garcia talked about the various projects and programs implemented during her term including the 12 plus 2 point program which covers education, infrastructure, agriculture, livelihood and tourism among others during her meeting with the visitors from NORSU.
Garcia pointed out how she used Cebu’s rich culture to boost tourism and turning it into a premier province in the country. She also shared how Cebu became an insurgency and debt-free province which impressed the NORSU visitors.
Although Garcia did not mention her purported candidacy for the Senate during the meeting but the group volunteered to express their support for her. (FREEMAN)
