Armed man shot dead by Carcar deputy chief
CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead after allegedly trying to shoot it out with the deputy police chief of Carcar City Saturday afternoon.
Police Inspector Arvi Arbuis shot the unidentified person armed with a Caliber .38 revolver in Sitio Placer, Barangay Napo, Carcar City at around 4:00 p.m.
Arbuis and his men responded to a call from a concerned citizen who reported an armed person in the said place. The unidentified armed man reportedly tried to escape upon seeing the responding policemen.
A brief chase ensued but the armed person reportedly drew his firearm prompting Arbuis to shoot him in the face. Arbuis said he did not have a choice but to fire at the suspect.
The police recovered the Cal. 38 revolver with two live rounds of ammunition and an empty shell inside the cylinder. The suspect was rushed to the Carcar City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The body is now at the Tupas Funeral Homes in Barangay Poblacion. Arbuis said there were people who claimed to be relatives of the man appeared at the police station yesterday afternoon.
Arbuis however said they were not given the
