CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested for selling drugs while seven others were arrested for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia during a raid in Barangay Lorega-San Miguel last Wednesday afternoon. The operation was conducted by the Cebu Intelligence Branch of the city police office in cooperation with the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 (PDEA) 7.
The pusher was identified as Joven Dequitos, 30. He is reportedly in the watch list of the city police and is considered a level 3 drug pusher. He was reportedly selling two to three bulks of illegal drugs per week to taxi drivers and residents of other areas.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander said Dequitos was placed under surveillance for at least four days before they raided his drug den in sitio Lawis at 4pm last Wednesday.
Reports about Dequitos’ illegal activities came from different sources, mostly from concerned citizens through the Multiagency Anti-illegal Drugs (MAD) Task Force.
“We facilitate all the received information and then we validate it. After that, we conducted surveillance to set-up for the buy-bust operation,” said Santander.
Police confiscated 20 packs of methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as shabu, cash amounting to P4,000 believed to be proceeds of the drug trade, and several drug paraphernalia.
The other seven arrested, which included one minor, were identified as Adora Tapales, Nino Pafecon, Joseph Megabonaballe, Reynante Rodriguez, Oliver Reyes, and Jay Ugsang. The Freeman is witholding the name of the minor. (FREEMAN)
