Kalunasan murder suspect arrested

CEBU, Philippines - The suspect in the killing of an 18-year-old boy and seriously injuring two others during a benefit dance in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City, Sunday dawn has arrested by the police.

Frank Simon Ibon was arrested by the operatives of the Guadalupe Police Station at about 11:00 a.m. last Monday, said Sr. Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, Cebu City Police Office homicide chief.

Ibon allegedly admitted killing Rall Ragasajo and seriously wounding his cousins Brendo Ragasajo, 21, and Winjun Morillo, 18, at a benefit dance in Sitio Dapdap for the village’s annual fiesta.

Jamiri said that the suspect was arrested at his house through the help of his father.

“Luckily, he was very cooperative and pleaded to his son to surrender to us,” the homicide chief added.

In a phone interview, Jamiri said that the suspect already has a grudge against the victims before the incident.

Police Investigation shows that the victims were considered as “dayo” or strangers and might have bumped the suspect while dancing, which irked Ibon. He shot Rall thrice causing his death.

Brendo was hit on his nape which exited on his nose. Morillo, on the other hand was shot in his left cheek. The police recovered five empty shells at the crime scene.

The family of the victim has already filed criminal charges for murder and double frustrated murder against the suspect. — (FREEMAN)
