Speeding bike kills old man
CEBU, Philippines - A 68-year-old man was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in Bogo City last Sunday.
The victim was identified as Osias Bojos Malinao, a resident of Sitio Kabad-yangan, Barangay La Paz, Bogo City. He was killed after being hit by the Yamaha motorcycle with temporary license plate numbers 7TC-N-9224 driven by Rotser Baguro Tangub, 26, a resident of Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
Police said Tangub was driving south from Bogo City proper headed for Cebu City around 9:30 a.m. when Malinao suddenly crossed the road from the opposite side.
Tangub said he reduced speed and honked his horn but the victim appeared not to have noticed.
The motorcycle hit Malinao in the right hip and threw him onto the pavement resulting in head injuries.
The driver immediately brought Malinao to the hospital where he died a few minutes later.
Tangub surrendered to policemen who went to the hospital.
Police said that the family of the victim did not file case against the driver after they reached an amicable settlement.
The driver’s license and his motorcycle were temporarily held in custody at the Bogo City Police Station for proper disposition. (FREEMAN)
