Woman tricks child to get dad's gadgets
CEBU, Philippines - An American national lost his iPod and Samsung mobile phone to a woman who tricked his 11-year-old daughter.
The American, Charles Jerry Rollins, told authorities that the incident happened almost midday last Friday when the child, Kay, was alone at their house in Block 9, Azienda Milan in Barangay Maghaway, Talisay City.
Reports have it that the suspect went to the American’s house and told the child that her father had wanted her to hand the iPod and mobile phone over to the suspect. The two gadgets cost a total of P36,000.
After the child handed over the gadgets, the woman immediately left the house and boarded a taxi with plate number 0474.
Police believe that the woman had hypnotized the child.
Police said they have identified the owner of the taxi that the woman boarded. The taxi owner said the woman asked to be brought to P. Rodriguez Street in Talisay City but reportedly disembarked from the vehicle without paying.
Police have reiterated their warning against letting strangers into one’s house. — (FREEMAN)
