PRISAA fails to pay cops meal allowance

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - The organizers of the recently concluded national collegiate games held in Cebu City have failed to pay for the P240,000 meal allowance of the 56 policemen assigned to secure the delegates and the officials of the weeklong competition.

A ranking police official in Cebu City who requested anonymity asked the organizers of the 2012 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) to release the fund to dispel suspicions that they have squandered the money.

“Ang concern lang namo tingalig kami maoy pasanginlan nga naa namo ang kwarta mao nga wala ma-release (Our concern is that the people might think that the money is with us),” he said.

PRISAA 2012 deputy director Ryan Aznar admitted not having released the meal allowance for the police. Aznar said the organization is having a financial problem but assured that the fund is already being processed.

Aznar said he made a follow up last week but was told that PRISAA treasurer Engr. Oscar Tuazon and his assistant Cathy Vestil were not around to sign the check.

Aznar assured that the policemen will receive their allowance as soon as possible. — (FREEMAN)
