Construction foreman shot, critical

CEBU, Philippines - A construction foreman is in critical condition after he was shot in the head by an unidentified gunman early yesterday in the corner of Escario and Molave Streets, Cebu City.

The victim, Larry Bolo, of legal age, from Barangay Biga, Toledo City, was shot on the head while having drinks with his workers at half past midnight.

SPO1 Ruth Violango, Cebu City Police Office Homicide Investigator, said they victim was walking towards the unidentified gunman who was with a female companion when he was shot.

“It is possible that the victim was shot after his drinking mates harassed the gunman’s female companion. As the foreman, he (victim) might have tried to apologize on behalf of his men,” she told The FREEMAN. 

When Bolo was shot, his men tried to run after the gunman who fled on foot but were held back when the gunman pointed his gun at them.

Witnesses say that the gunman was wearing a white chalico vest. 

They reported the incident to the police who immediately hatched a hot pursuit operation but to no avail. 

Bolo was rushed by Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation personnel to the Cebu City Medical Center for immediate medical attention.

As of yesterday, the victim was still in critical condition with the bullet still lodged in his head.

Authorities are also looking into the possibility that personal grudge may be the motive behind the shooting.  (FREEMAN)
