Rep. Quisumbing still with One Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing remains a member of the One Cebu Party led by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
This was declared yesterday by One Cebu Party secretary-general, Rep. Pablo John Garcia (Cebu, 3rd district), following reports that Quisumbing is already joining the administration’s Liberal Party.
“I can understand why some other parties are interested in him because he is an incumbent congressman and a good one,” Pablo John said.
The Garcias and Quisumbing had a closed door meeting yesterday for over an hour at the Capitol.
Quisumbing said they did not discuss politics except some projects in the sixth district that also need the assistance of the Provincial Government.
But Pablo John said once politicians meet, politics is always on the table.
“All I can say right now is that Congressman Quisumbing remains to be a member of One Cebu Party,” he said. Quisumbing has reiterated that he is supporting President Benigno Aquino III as he believes in his sincerity of instituting reforms.
It was Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede who earlier announced the possibility of Quisumbing joining the LP.
He also stressed working together with Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes who belongs to LP.
“By working together and by coming up with programs and services and plans that benefit the sixth district,” Quisumbing said.
He said that no matter what the political variations are, services should always be on top.
Meanwhile, One Cebu Party will soon announce its gubernatorial candidate following the statement of Gov. Garcia that the party is shaping up.
“That will be announced soon, don’t be impatient,” Rep. Garcia told reporters.
Garcia said they will try to come up with a strong candidate for the party for a very good fight. (FREEMAN)
