"Illegal recruiter" gets special treatment?

- Ria Mae Y. Booc, Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines -  A policeman was accused of giving special treatment to an alleged illegal recruiter detained in Carmen Police Station.

Police Officer 1 Jason de Guzman was recommended to be reprimanded for allowing Ivy de Dios to attend the graduation of her two daughters without the permission from the court.

Senior Police Officer 2 Renerio Masucol, who was assigned to investigate de Guzman, confirmed that de Dios was allowed to attend her daughters’ graduation out of humanitarian reason.

De Dios allegedly celebrated with his children for 45 minutes because one of the daughters was an honor student while the other graduated in high school.

June Branzuela who filed a case for illegal recruitment against de Dios complained that the accused was given special treatment by the Carmen police. Masucol said Branzuela was allegedly informed by them about De Dios’ attending her daughters’ graduation.

Masucol said it him who personally called Branzuela to inform him that they are allowing the accused to attend the graduation out of humanitarian reason.

Masucol also admitted that De Dios was not handcuffed but was escorted by de Guzman. Two other policemen were reportedly detailed at the gate of the complex where the graduation was held.

Nevertheless, Masucol said he already made a recommendation to Carmen police chief Jason Mangaron to reprimand de Guzman.—(FREEMAN)
