Two men shot dead in separate incidents

CEBU, Philippines - A farmer was shot several times by unidentified persons while he was tending to his vegetable farm in the mountain barangay Pamutan in Cebu City last Monday afternoon.

The farmer was identified as Deodoro Briones, 55. He sustained gunshot wounds on his right shoulder, chest, lower abdomen and right thigh.

His wife, Joan, said she first heard the gunfire and heard her husband shout for help. She then sought the help of relatives and they brought the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center. The victim underwent operation but passed away at past 10pm.

Meanwhile, while Briones was at the hospital, a tricycle driver was shot dead in sitio Dumalagan-Upper Inayawan, Barangay Inayawan. The incident happened around 9pm. 

SPO4 Rey Cuyos said that according to the victim’s sister, Abegail, Sergius Nepa was driving his tricycle when he was shot by two unidentified men. He sustained gunshot wounds on his forehead and back.

Personnel of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) who responded to the incident declared Nepa dead. He remains were brought to the San Fernando Funeral Homes for autopsy. – (FREEMAN)
