CEBU, Philippines - They were supposed to take a 12:20 a.m. chartered flight to Singapore yesterday.
The ambulance was on M.J. Cuenco Avenue and was about to cross the intersection when the pick-up, which was crossing the intersection on Juan Luna Ave. on its way to the North Reclamation Area, hit the left rear portion of the ambulance.
Logarta reportedly came from Asiatown IT Park in Barangay Apas.
The driver, according to the police, claimed that his speed was about 50 to 60 kilometers per hour at the time of the incident.
Logarta claimed that he did not see the ambulance until the point of impact.
The traffic lights at the intersection was then flashing, which meant that drivers on the lane where there is a yellow light can proceed with caution while those on the lane where the red light is flashing have to yield.
Aside from the ambulance, a taxi cab was also hit by the pick-up.
The taxi, which was driven by Recardo Tersero, 56, of Alaska, Barangay Mambaling, was parked on the road. Tersero sustained bruises.
The police are currently coordinating with a relative of Abaño in Manila.
