Bus drivers told to wear uniforms for Holy Week

-

CEBU, Philippines - Come Holy Week, the Provincial Capitol will strictly impose the uniform policy that they have set on bus drivers in the Cebu South Bus Terminal.

Jose Maria Gastardo, the current consultant on planning and development, said they will strictly monitor if the drivers, including conductors and dispatchers, are following this rule, otherwise, they will be banned from entering the terminal.

“As far as we are concerned, entering the Cebu South Bus Terminal is a privilege for the drivers so we also have the right to prescribe rules,” he said.

The provincial government owns the terminal.

Gastardo also said drivers, conductors and dispatchers should also wear identifications cards.

“This is for identification purposes for the passengers. In case naa sila’y reklamo, identified nila ang ilang ireklamo unya,” Gastardo said.

The influx off passengers is expected to rise with the number of travelers going home to their provinces for the long weekend.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-7 and other Regional Offices throughout the country have been ordered to prepare for the implementation of Philippine National Police Oplan Summer Vacation and Semana Santa 2012.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr., PRO-7 chief, said they received a memorandum from Camp Crame ordering the inspections of bus terminals, seaports, airports, churches, resorts, and other areas of mass convergence.

Garbo said they were directed to designate area supervisors in their respective areas who are tasked to closely monitor the situation. –Niña G. Sumacot and Ryan Christopher J. Sorote/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
