CEBU, Philippines - February may be considered the love month but three people were wounded in two separate lovers’ quarrels which escalated to even more love troubles in Cebu City last Friday.
Robert Menerva, 49, a former habalhabal driver, was stabbed at around 6:30 a.m. by his wife, Maridel, 42, allegedly because of a third party.
The couple was reportedly inside their house when a heated argument broke out following reports that Robert is having a relationship with another woman.
After a heated exchange of words heard by neighbors, Maridel, a vendor, reportedly took a knife from their kitchen and stabbed the victim several times while sobbing.
Robert was left bloodied in their house while his wife immediately fled.
The husband sustained stab wound on his upper arm, on the right side of his body and on his back.
He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.
The police are still searching for the whereabouts of Maridel.
Meanwhile, Jesel Maravillo, 22, a house helper of Sabillano Street, Barangay Talamban, was stabbed by her lover after another heated argument at around 1:15 p.m.
The victim’s lover was not identified in the police blotter.
Responding officers PO2 Edward Acop and PO2 Jonas Catubig of Talamban Police Station said Maravillo and her lover had an argument over another woman.
Both reportedly fought for a few minutes until the victim’s lover got a 13-inch kitchen knife and stabbed her repetitively on different parts of her body.
The victim was rushed to the North General Hospital wile her lover resisted arrest.
Instead of going with the responding policemen, the victim’s lover stabbed himself in the stomach instead with the same knife he used against the victim.
The victim’s lover was brought to an undisclosed hospital in the city, away from the victim. (FREEMAN)
