PRO-7 to beautify police stations

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - Police Regional Office Director Marcelo Garbo Jr. has chosen three police stations in Cebu City as pilot areas for the implementation of his “beautification plans” which he plans to implement all over the region.

After personally inspecting police stations since last year, Garbo has seen the need to improve the image of police stations throughout Central Visayas.

“From the outside, police stations should look like a bank while in the inside it should look like a hotel,” Garbo told The FREEMAN.

Garbo said police stations especially in Cebu City, which is considered as a prime tourist destination, should look appealing to the public and to tourists.

He said the beautification plan will be implemented in three model police stations in Cebu City which will include the Waterfront, San Nicolas, and Mabolo Police Stations.

Garbo said the project is still in the planning stage and they have yet to look for a budget.

Initially, Garbo asked each station chief to produce their own plans which mostly involves renovation.

Chief Insp. Noel Lomente, San Nicolas Police chief, yesterday showed their plans for the improvement of their police station which includes the installation of claddings and visors at the facade.

Once successfully implemented in Cebu City, the same plans will be adopted by all police stations throughout Central Visayas.

He said the plan was inspired by the new Fuente Police Station at Corner RR Landon Street and Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City, which he described as one of the cleanest police stations in the city. (FREEMAN)
