Capitol team brings home gratitude from Mindanao
CEBU, Philippines - A team sent by the Cebu provincial government to help rebuild the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro after the wrath of typhoon Sendong two months ago has returned home bringing the gratitude of the people in the two cities.
The Capitol in collaboration with the contractors association in Cebu have sent a team of engineers and construction workers to assist in the clean up operation and rebuilding of the damaged infrastructures brought about by the floods during the typhoon.
The Capitol had also lent heavy equipment to Iligan City. These include backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, water tanks and boom trucks.
“With people like you to help us, we can bravely say: Yes, We Can Rebuild Iligan!” Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia shared an excerpt of Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Cruz’s letter to her.
Garcia received the letter of gratitude from Cruz last Monday which was hand carried by the members of the Capitol team. A plaque of appreciation was also given by Cruz to the provincial government of Cebu.
A certificate of appreciation was also given to the contractors and different local government units in Cebu for helping the provincial government in the endeavor.
Aside from sending a team of engineers and workers the Capitol also gave P5-million financial assistance each to Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City, which Garcia personally delivered last December 27. — (FREEMAN)
