CEBU, Philippines - A former division manager of the Mactan Cebu International Airport yesterday sought the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas to reclaim his position after the airport management refused to reinstate him in spite of an order from the court and the Civil Service Commission.
Manelito Nosdo, former mechanical division manager of MCIAA, has asked Assistant Ombudsman Virginia Palanca Santiago to help him.
Nosdo said he was dismissed by MCIAA in 2007 without valid grounds. Nosdo appealed his dismissal with the CSC and was able to obtain a favorable decision. But, in spite of the order from the CSC to have him reinstated, MCIAA general manager Nigel Paul Villarete allegedly refused to respect it.
This prompted Nosdo to file a petition for mandamus before the court against the MCIAA management. Nosdo likewise obtained a favorable ruling from the court.
However, Nosdo said Villarete refused to honor the order from the court and the CSC.
“It was my last resort to ask the help of the Ombudsman to intervene with this issue,” Nosdo said.
Nosdo said being a breed winner in the family it was difficult for him to lose his job.
Meanwhile, a retired teacher from Ramon Duterte National High School in Guadalupe also asked the anti-graft office’s assistance to transfer school principal Jessica Abayon.
Adelfa Salvador said Abayon was suspended for three months after she was found guilty of simple dishonesty for alleged involvement in the “massive cheating” during the National Achievement Test in March 2010.
According to Salvador, Abayon is scheduled to return to work next week after serving her suspension. Salvador said they want Abayon to be transferred somewhere else allegedly to save the school’s reputation. — (FREEMAN)
