LTFRB's "Oplan I love you"
CEBU, Philippines - With the Valentines Day coming in two weeks time, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 (LTFRB) is warning taxicab drivers from overcharging their passengers.
The agency is also urging commuters to report those who collect fares without using the meter.
“The LTFRB 7 will launch Oplan I Love You this coming February 14. An operation against overcharging of taxi nga mudala ug pasahero sa plaza, hotel, motel, restaurants, resorts and others,” LTFRB Regional Director Ahmmed Cuizon yesterday told The FREEMAN.
According to Cuizon, some drivers consider Valentines day as an opportunity to charge more especially in motels and hotels.
Cuizon said they will be strictly monitoring the premises of the establishments on this date.
They will also be posting hotline numbers and asked owners of taxi operators to produce and issue a taxi information sheet, Cuizon added.
If there will be complaints, Cuizon said that erring driver will face suspension of their license. — (FREEMAN)
